The SRI provides technology managers with a reliable reference baseline for gauging the validity of an audio-visual system design and offers changes that can be made to extend it.
The SRI is a tool to gauge the overall integrity and functionality of the infrastructure of the system design. The SRI is not only intended to be a measurement of a design systems integrity, but also to be used as a standard unit of measure to compare different designs trying to achieve the same system goal. The result will create a quick and easy reference that an end-customer can use to not only choose a design but see where the potential deficiencies are. The selected SRI also creates the design standard that the completed system will be built and tested against.
AQAV is non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that is dedicated to improving the operational art of designing and installing audio visual technology. Engineered audio visual systems continue to become more complex and difficult to integrate. By focusing on the quality management of these systems, and of those who design and install them, we can benefit the AV industry and all its stakeholders: including clients and users of AV technology, AV designers and installers, equipment manufacturers, related construction and architectural firms, and the environment.
The spreadsheet calculator can be used as a “Did you consider…?” checklist of current technologies, which, if overlooked, could be costly, both economically and to one’s reputation. This is especially true in today’s limited budget environment if procurement decisions must last over a period of years.
AQAV’s SRI rating sheds light on this matter in a simple index form that’s easy to apply. System infrastructure is broken into five categories. Each category has five criteria. Meeting all the criteria in every category earns a rating of 100, but weighted for the price and other considerations this rating would be only one of other criteria for procurement decisions.
