AQAV has announced the addition of three new board members to the current board of directors; James Patterson, Gary Malick, and Shane Springer.
“The inclusion of James, Gary, and Shane to the board provides new viewpoints to our already impressive group of directors,” explained Gina Sansivero. “James, Gary, and Shane have already implemented the AQAV standard in their own organizations and can speak to its ongoing value in ways that both integrators and users/ buyers can relate to. That combined with their unique energy brings added fuel to AQAV moving forward.”

Bill Lawrence, Jr.
Bill is AQAV’s Vice President- Programs, with over 30 years in the Electronics/Audio Visual/Video Conferencing Industry. He has driven program and business development for international design and delivery in multiple global theaters, including UK, EMEA, BENELUX and Asia Pacific. Bill has worked internationally with the global leaders in Audio Visual Integration, designing and deploying systems throughout the United States and rest of the world, traveling to 14 countries in the process.
Bill has a passion for quality, a drive for success, and enjoys sharing knowledge and capturing new business by building the Client's confidence and trust. Bill truly believes that focusing on Quality saves time and cost, and admits that it may not always be the easiest thing to message –but it's always the right thing.

Gary currently is the Manager of Audiovisual Technologies at Western Washington University in Bellingham Washington. He has been with the university since 1995 working in various capacities but always involved with audiovisual technologies. Prior to the university Gary served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years as a technician and broadcast engineer with Armed Forces Radio and Television and Combat Camera units.
Gary got his start with AQAV in 2014 being certified at the CQD level then achieving his CQT level the next year. He has also promoted the AQAV standards and organization in presentations at the professional organization known as Northwest MET: Northwest Managers of Educational Technology, at two of their annual conferences. These were well attended and exposed many technology mangers in higher education to the benefits of AQAV.
He was awarded the 2017 Certificate of Recognition by AQAV.
Gary is an active member in the Seattle chapter of the Society of Broadcast Engineers , certified as a Broadcast Television Engineer since 1993.
He also holds the AVIXIA certifications of CTS-I and D
Gina is an experienced and energetic professional with a demonstrated history of working with start-ups and SMB to increase their visibility and standing in the commercial electronics, AV technology and electronic manufacturing industry. Professional skilled in Content Marketing Strategy and Execution, Marketing Communications, Brand Advocacy, Thought Leadership, Business Development, Sales Management, Strategy, and Strategic Partnerships. Recognized in the education market as an AV industry cheerleader and resource.

Jeremy has been delivering quality-integrated media technology solutions for more than 20 years. He began his career installing enterprise class network and audiovisual systems, progressing to the design and project management of a wide variety of technology enabled facilities. Jeremy has successfully led diverse teams on many large-scale and complex design and installation projects globally. Driven by quality and the creative application of new technologies, Jeremy thrives on developing unique and innovative solutions for his customers. He has worked on a broad range of project types including broadcast, production, and communications for higher education, corporate, healthcare, and hospitality clients.
As President and quality evangelist, Jeremy oversees day-to-day operations. Jeremy focuses himself and his team on delivering premium systems and customer experience through the development and continual improvement of a complete quality management system.
Jeremy serves on the Board of Directors for Association for Quality in Audio Visual Technology (AQAV), as an adjunct faculty instructor for Avixa, and as a member of the PSNI Global Alliance Deployment and Service Oversight Committee.
Jeremy is the recipient of the Avixa 2019 Educator of the Year, AQAV 2017 Quality Champion Award, and was recognized in the 2014 edition of the Commercial Integrators Top 40 under 40 Influencers.
Jim is the VP of Quality Standards at Level 3 Audio Visual. He has commissioned thousands of AV systems around the world, ranging from small conference rooms to some of the most complex and expensive installations in the world. He strives to continually improve not only the way Level 3 does AV, but also improve the awareness of the AV industry by others in the construction community.
Working his way up through the ranks, Jim started as a rack fabricator in high school, and transitioned to a field tech and project engineer in the time between college degrees (BSME from MIT and MSME from Stanford University). He was a founder and President of AVR which was known as the premier commissioning service provider of the AV industry, which was acquired by Level 3 AV in March of 2019. Combining the Level 3 reputation of stellar AV integration with that of AVR, we hope to redefine how AV is delivered in the AV industry.
Jim is also known in certain Sound and Communication (S&C) magazine circles, as “The Commish” where he pens a monthly column with the same name about his experiences as a commissioning agent in AV world.
In addition to leading the quality side of Level 3, Jim sits on the Board of Directors of the Association for Quality in AV Technology (AQAV) and holds two certifications from them (CQD and CQT). Jim also is a Senior Faculty Instructor for Avixa and holds two certifications from them (CTS-D and CTS-I). He was awarded the Young AV Professional Award in 2009 from InfoComm, the first year it was awarded. He was also awarded InfoComm International’s Educator of the Year in 2017. Jim is an avid scouter and holds a General Class Ham Radio license (N2NIW)
Mario J. Maltese
Mario Maltese is AQAV's Director Emeritus, with over 46 years-experience in AV systems design and installation, as well as the leadership and management of the engineered systems integration business. Holds an MSEE (Electrophysics) and a BSEE (Microwave Engineering). He is the recipient, 2004-5 “Educator of the Year”, Senior Faculty at the InfoComm Academy. He is also the recipient of the “Fred Dixon Award for Excellence”, InfoComm 2011 and has been inducted into the SCN Hall of Fame in 2017. Commissioned as a Signal Officer in the USAR, Mario fulfilled duties that, besides command, included Training and Maintenance Management. He developed a patented self-contained intercom system for use across bulletproof glass that is currently in use in subway tollbooths and movie theaters. He was the technical committee chair for ICIA’s job force development initiative in the Skills USA national competition and formerly the Curriculum Subcommittee Chair for the Professional Education and Training Committee of the ICIA (PETC). He is currently a Senior Faculty member at the InfoComm International Academy. He has been presenting and publishing works concerning AV Quality since 1999 and is the founder and CEO of Audio Visual Resources, Inc. (“AVR”), which has been ISO9000 certified since 2004. AVR’s primary source of revenue is 3rd party Testing and Performance Verification for several major AV Buyers. He is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Member of the Audio Engineering Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Mike is the A/V Division Manager for NCS in Houston, TX. He has been involved in the AV industry for over 20
years. He first started as a live sound engineer in the music industry then moved into the commercial AV
He has held installation, design and management positions throughout his career.
Mike earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee as a Music Business
major with an emphasis in Audio Engineering. He also earned his CTS-D and CTS-I certifications through
AVIXA, and his CQD and CQT certifications through AQAV. Mike is an AVIXA Senior Faculty Member and has
taught both design and installation on courses over the last 12 years. He has also served on numerous industry committees, and written articles for industry publications. Additionally, he co-authored and taught the Quality Troubleshooting class for AQAV.
Shane Springer has been active in technology for nearly 20 years. In that time he has worked heavily in both the IT systems, Collaboration, and AV spaces. Prior to starting with Zoom, Shane’s AV experience has crossed Programming, Engineering, and Consulting. Today, he works with some of the world’s largest innovators to foster transformative collaboration experiences and promotes quality-first methodologies globally.
